Bringing the Hope and Peace of Christ to the City of Chicago

Regular Sunday Service Times: 9:00 am & 10:30 am

About the Grateful Living program; by Pastor Hess

He is Risen!  Now what?  If indeed Christ has risen and our sins are forgiven, shouldn’t that affect every aspect of our life in good and wonderful ways?  Wouldn’t we want to make sure that everyone in our community knows that there is hope and peace in this dark world?  In the next four weeks, we will embark on a journey called Grateful Living Through sermons, bible studies, and prayer, we will discover what it looks like to live as people who believe they are forgiven and will live forever.  We will grow in confidence in God’s promises!  We will learn how to not be stressed by the things of this world.  We will learn to be generous with our time, talent and treasure!

Grateful Living is a time of growth and commitment in which the people of God celebrate His gifts and grow in the joy of giving and serving

Each Sunday beginning May 5th and ending May 26th we will:

  • Celebrate one of the ministries here at St. James in which faithful stewards use their gifts in the service of God and His people.
  • Hear the witness of one of our members who shares his/her stewardship journey.
  • Study the Scriptures each week using a four-part course entitled “Giving Life to the Next Generation: A Bible Study for Christian Stewards.” See available bible study groups, dates, and times below, as well as on website and in weekly Connections newsletter.

Then on June 2nd, we’ll celebrate CONSECRATION SUNDAY at the 9:00 a.m. Service.  Every member is asked to make a special effort to attend this worship service (the only service that day), and to make a reservation for a special luncheon to be held in the Community Center immediately following the service.  More details will soon come your way via mail and email, but please save this date on your calendar now.

Bible study groups will be exploring the four-part Bible study series, “Giving Life to the Next Generation.”

Part One:  Out of the Saltshaker
Part Two:  Cheerful Giving & the Spice of Life
Part Three:  Risky Living
Part Four:  A Present from the Past for the Future

Even if you do not normally attend one of the below study groups, please consider attending one or several group study times.  This is an opportunity for personal growth and for all of us to be empowered by God’s grace to live joyful lives marked by generosity with our time, talent and treasure!   Although it is optimal to attend all four series discussions, it is still valuable to attend even just one.
