Children’s Bible Study

The Bible is the story of Salvation. God is the main actor and mover as he creates and almost immediately works to redeem and restore His human creature due to our sinful heart and disobedient behavior. Our Christian education program is designed to teach the most relevant and age appropriate Bible stories beginning at age three and concluding with our confirmation program.

Children’s Church

Age 3 – Kindergarten at 9:00 a.m.

During the 9:00 a.m. worship service children from age three through kindergarten come to the front of the sanctuary for an age appropriate message and then proceed to the Community Center for a lesson built around a Bible story or event.

The one-year cycle begins in the fall introducing the creation account, the fall of Adam and Eve into sin and the resulting brokenness and the promise God makes to Abram resulting in the birth of Isaac.

The winter schedule begins with the visitation of the Magi to Bethlehem and tells many of the basic stories about Jesus of Nazareth including miracles over disease and nature and His mission to call and send out disciples as witness to His Divine nature.

The Easter story and events after the resurrection aligns with the calendar until the Pentecost season where the Acts of the Apostles form the basis for lessons during the summer months.

Sunday School

Grades 1 – 3 at 10:30 a.m.

To prepare children for confirmation, we have compiled a series of thematic Bible stories, that, over a three-year rotation, deliver the basis for the catechesis that follows beginning in the fourth grade. Over the three years of grades one through three, students will learn about the Patriarchs, the Exodus, the Wilderness Wanderings, Joshua, Judges and the House of David.

The Gospel of Mark forms the basis for learning the Jesus narrative over two years concluding with the question, “Who is He?” which is answered by the seven “I AM” statements from the Gospel of John.

Sunday School lessons are mixed age and held in the Community Center during the 10:30 a.m. service beginning at 10:35 concluding at 11:30. Sunday School lessons are offered after Labor Day and end before Memorial Day and are not held during vacation weeks and summer worship.
