GIVING HOPE
"but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."
People struggle with hopelessness in many different ways in this city. Poverty or riches, injustice, past sins, and death enclose so many people in a dark box with no way out. Maybe you know what that feels like.
Jesus knew. As He cried out on the cross, “My God why have you forsaken me?!” He received our sins with each nail in His flesh and buried them with himself in the grave. But then he said, “It is finished.” You are forgiven. Jesus rose again from that most hopeless place and He promises to raise you up too. He turned hopelessness into Hope for all.
God has purposely positioned St. James -YOU- at this time and in this place to bring His hope to this city! Your neighbors need that certain hope that cannot be killed. This is our sole purpose
Hope is given through His Word and sacraments on Sundays, through our bible studies, events, college and youth groups, and Sunday school. Hope is given through the actions of our many care ministries: meals for the women’s shelter and food banks, and of course our school and its many service projects!
Amazingly God grew our numbers and ministries through the pandemic! His voice of hope is needed by our communities now more than ever. Please pray for the ministries of St. James and consider giving a year end gift to make sure this city knows that in Christ there is always hope!
In Christ, Pastor Hess
